What the book is about
"I produce evidence against vaping, and I do not care if it’s false." This quote, from a prominent actor of the fight against vaping, is representative of the anti-vape movement. Anything is said to harm the electronic cigarette industry. According to them, vaping would cause erection problems, make your hair fall out, lead to obesity, make your teeth fall out and even modify your DNA. These accusations would make us smile if they didn’t result in public policies that restrict access to vaping to smokers, who are condemned to suffer and die from their tobacco addiction.
The fact is that tobacco control policies are influenced by a plethora of anti-vaping players, including industries that feel threatened and are playing double games, institutions that are influenced by various interests, unscrupulous journalists, associations that don’t strive for the common good, and many others. By uncovering the hidden motivations and misinformation strategies of the electronic cigarette’s detractors, this substantiated book sheds light on a public health scandal that can still be fixed.
Vincent Cuisset and Charly Pairaud have been among vaping’s forerunners since 2012. Their technical and scientific expertise, gained from years of study at the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers and the École Nationale des Métiers des Gaz, has enabled them to participate in many regulatory and normative works that frame the vaping industry in both France and Europe.
