What is DIY vaping?

Making your own e-liquid for electronic cigarette has numerous benefits. You will have fun putting together mixtures that perfectly match your tastes and desires. As the DIY universe opens up to you, you will be able to indulge yourself and create an infinity of e-liquid flavours that do not exist yet in retail.

What is a flavour concentrate?

Arômes et Liquides takes pride in the quality and diversity of the products they offer, as you will be able to get your hands on numerous flavours and use them as single flavours or combine them together.

Each bottle of flavour concentrate is fitted with a childproof cap and a dropper nozzle. They are generally made from natural or artificial food flavourings and pharmaceutical-grade propylene glycol.

On the label, you will find all the necessary information such as the Best By date, batch number and most of all the recommended dosage, to help you in your preparations.

What is the Best By date of a flavour concentrate or base?

The Best By date is often written on the back of your concentrate bottles for electronic cigarette.

Contrarily to a Use By date, the Best By date is not a date after which the product becomes toxic to your health. If you go over the Best By date, your flavour concentrate, base or e-liquid will only lose a bit of its qualities (taste or colour alteration).

How to choose your base

A&L offers bases under their own name but also distributes other ranges such as Viking or French Vape.

To make your own e-liquid, you will have to choose a base, nicotined or not, and pick the PG/VG ratio that suits your needs the best.

The propylene glycol favours hit and flavours whilst the vegetable glycerin enhances the amount of vapour and will soften your e-liquid for a smoother throat feel. Everything is possible when it comes to customising your DIYs!

You can refer to the base bottle's labelling to choose accordingly.

How to make your own e-liquid

Once you have chosen, grab a bottle that can hold the amount of e-liquid you wish to prepare for your electronic cigarette.

NB: Various equipments can be used to help you make your recipe: syringes, needles, labels, protective eyewear, gloves, test-tubes, etc.

Pour the number of recommended drops ('from 20 drops to 10mL' for example) in your bottle, fill in the rest with your base, close the bottle and give it a good shake.

It is then necessary to let your e-liquid steep so that it matures and reveals all of its flavours.

However, do not forget to stick a label on your bottle so you can keep track of the recipe, flavour concentrate and manufacture date if you make a few different e-liquids at the same time.

You can find a detailed tutorial here: How to make your own e-liquid?

E-liquid steeping

The steep times are indicated on the concentrate's information sheet and it is generally established that you need 48 to 72 hours of steep time before enjoying a fruity or mentholated blend, and a minimum of one or two weeks for complex, tasty or tobacco-flavoured blends.

It is better to leave your e-liquid in the dark away from direct sunlight, as the latter oxidises the nicotine and hastens its deterioration.

Fill up your electronic cigarette and enjoy yourself! Of course, you can readjust the dosage of your flavour concentrate according to your preferences. It is what makes DIYing so attractive, you can do anything you want!
